Chairs, Benches & Stools

The Broken Glass Benches

These camphor laurel benches have coloured broken glass set in clear resin and match the dining table. Luckily nothing pokes through! For pictures of the dining table, please see the benches page here.

Autumn Colours Stools

The rejuvenation of these stools involved sanding off the old finish that was showing its age and then adding resin accents using a variety of autumn colours. A new finish and these stools are good as new. Here at Tangerine Unicorn Design we definitely approve of breathing new life into existing furniture if you can, not sending it to the landfill.

Camphor Laurel Stools

These two stools are destined to be side tables that match the headboard that can be seen here and the coffee table here. Mounted on high quality powdecoated matte black steel bases and finished in high gloss Danish Oil, these tables will last for years!

Camphor Laurel Bar Stools

This set of four barstools sit together perfectly considering only two pieces of Camphor Laurel were used to make the whole set. This means that your stools can go together in a line to give the illusion that they’re still just two pieces of Camphor!

This one of a kind matte black steel stool has a hand-shaped pine seat with waves to float on... This unique piece is for sale by contacting us directly here.

Combination Stool/Side Table

These large blue gum stumps were found on the client’s property and turned into very simple combination stool/side tables for their fire pit area. Mounted on simple lockable casters and only sanded on the tops, they’re the ultimate in versatility.

The Point Break Stool

The Point Break Stool is named after the skydiving scene in the original Point Break Movie. The blackbutt burl that's been used for the seat is filled with deep green resin. Viewed from above, the burl looks suspiciously like the view of Lake Powell in the USA, where that iconic scene was filmed. The five hand bent brass rods that make up the back portray the sunlight falling on the lakes below. This one of a kind barstool stands a metre high and is approximately 400mm square. The frame has been repainted a gorgeous flat matte black and the burl seat has been handcarved, the voids filled with epoxy resin and sanded to 12,000 grit before being finished with wax and buffed. The brass rods are antique brass, salvaged from other items, polished and handbent into the backrest.

The Iceberg Stool

All is not as it appears from above... This one of a kind matte black steel stool has a hand-shaped plywood seat and an acrylic "iceberg" lurking beneath the surface. Standing 550mm high and approximately 300mm square, this stool is perfect as an accent piece for any space and is a definite talking point!

Concrete Beer crate Stools

These two German beer crates were topped with concrete seats as an experiment in concrete. These unique pieces are for sale by contacting us directly here.

Blue Gum Clothes Peg Bench

This old wharf pile has been reimagined as a massive oversized clothespeg and now has pride of place as a bench supported by carved sandstone rocks in the client’s Japanese-inspred rock garden. With a rope light spring, it really makes a statement.

Camphor Laurel Stool Experiments

These camphor laurel stools are a personal experiment with a variety of resin inclusions, colours and techniques for my own kitchen. Two sets of four, the steel bases are reclaimed, primed and repainted in matte black. They accompany a counter level dining/kitchen island that doubles as additional preparation space.

Wharf Pile Bench

This massive turpentine wood wharf pile was rescued from the Brisbane River after the floods of 2011. Cleaned up and finished only on the seat areas, we’ve sat it on two beautiful blocks of solid camphor laurel. The step down is perfect for children and the main seat is perfect for adults. It’s available for sale by contacting us directly here.

Cedar and Oak Bench

Constructed from a 300mm x 70mm structural Cedar beam rescued from a house renovation, this outdoor bench is simple but indestructible. Oak dowels were used to connect the legs, adding interest.

Beer Crate Stool

This Bionade crate stool has plenty of room for your beer and a bamboo lid that doubles as a nice comfy seat. This unique piece is for sale by contacting us directly here.
